Hello and welcome! My name is Emma Welham and I am an artist currently based in my hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba on Treaty 1 Territory.
Working primarily in direction, my work has been described as forthright, bold and high level. My goal is always to create a specific, finely honed production that places the question "what best serves this show?" at the forefront of every decision. What Have I Been Up To Recently? I was the assistant director of Vertigo Theatre's production of Anthony Shaffer's Sleuth. Directed by Cherissa Richards, the show is currently running until December 17! From August 2023-October 2023 I was the assistant director of The Arts Club/Citadel Theatre co-production of Little Shop of Horrors, directed by Ashlie Corcoran. In summer 2023 I directed and produced Mark Ravenhill's Pool (No Water) at the Winnipeg Fringe. The production received 4 stars from the Winnipeg Free Press and was lauded by audiences. Where Have I Worked? In addition to my work as a director, I have also worn hats including dramaturg, performer and producer. My career has taken me across the country and I have worked for companies including The Arts Club, The Citadel Theatre, Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, Theatre Projects Manitoba, Dry Cold Productions, Shakespeare in the Ruins, Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan and Prairie Theatre Exchange. What Is My Training?
